Boys School Age Program

Boys Beginner

Boys will learn basic skills and positions. This class will focus on building strength, increasing flexibility & improving coordination. Boys will be trained on floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars, high bar, mushroom, rings, and tumble track.

Class Goals:

FLOOR:

Press to Headstand w/wall, Spider Climb, Handstand, Handstand forward roll, Forward roll, Backward roll,

Cartwheel, Dive Roll (Block to Mat), Bridge (10 sec. hold)

HIGH BAR:

5 sec bent arm hang, Tap swings w/Re-grip (3x)- assisted, Pullover up incline, Pullover, Cast hips off bar,

F. roll dismount, Straight Body Hold

RINGS:

L-sit (3 seconds), Chin up (2X), L-sit/ Inverted Hang/ Skin the cat

VAULT:

Proper run/arm technique, Hurdle w/Arm Circle, Run hurdle to board > straight jump, Run hurdle to board > front tuck

P-BARS:

Support swings (bar height 5x), Under bar swings, Straddle travels length of bars

POMMEL HORSE:

Walk on hands end to end, Leg cut forward & backward, Straddle swings, legs horizontal (3x)

Walking circles on Mushroom

STRENGTH:

3 pull ups, 3-5 push ups, F. support hold, 10 sit ups, Press handstand against wall

Boys Intermediate

This class is for boys who demonstrate discipline & mastery of basic gymnastics skills. Boys will continue to improve basic skills while being introduced to intermediate & advanced skills on the boy's apparatus. Increased flexibility and strength training will be emphasized. Boys will be trained on floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars, high bar, mushroom, rings, and tumble track.

Class Goals:

FLOOR:

Press to headstand & handstand, Handstand hold, Handstand forward roll, Back ext. roll to push-up, Round-off,

Dive Roll, Back handspring

HIGH BAR:

Tap swings w/Re-grip (3x), Pullover, Cast to horizontal, Pike support hold (rings)

RINGS

Chin-ups (3x), Muscle up, L-sit (3 sec.)/ Inverted Hang/ Skin the cat, Straddle dismount

VAULT:

Proper run/arm technique, Run hurdle to board > straight jump, Run hurdle to board > front tuck, Handspring to back on resi, Handspring vault

P-BARS:

Support swings (bar height 5x), Under bar swings, Wing swings (3x), Backward Flank Dismount

POMMEL HORSE:

Walk on hands end to end (w/pommels), Leg cut forward & backward (2x), Straddle swings, legs horizontal,

Circle on Mushroom (1x)

STRENGTH:

5 pull ups, 5-10 push ups, 5 dips, F. support hold- walk down bar in f. support, 25 sit ups, Press handstand against wall
